How to delete your data

If you want to delete your account and all associated data from CodeWithBotina, follow these steps:

Account Deletion via Profile Page

How to Delete Your Account

  1. Sign in to your account
  2. Click on your profile picture in the header
  3. Navigate to your profile page
  4. Scroll to the "Delete Account" section at the bottom
  5. Click the "Delete Account" button
  6. Read the warning carefully
  7. Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field
  8. Click "Delete My Account"

What Gets Deleted Immediately

  • Your profile information (name, email, profile photo)
  • All comments you've posted on any article
  • All your reactions (likes and dislikes) on posts
  • Your session history and authentication tokens
  • Your admin status (if you were an admin)

What Happens After Deletion

  • You are immediately signed out
  • Your account cannot be recovered
  • Other users will no longer see your comments
  • Posts you liked/disliked will show updated counts
  • This action is permanent and irreversible

Data Retention

  • Account data is deleted immediately from the active database
  • Backups may retain data for 30 days (standard backup retention)
  • After 30 days, data is completely purged from all systems
  • No personal data is retained after backup purge

Alternative to Deletion

If you just want to stop using the blog without deleting data, simply sign out and don't return. Your account will remain inactive but data preserved.

Manual Request (Support)

If you cannot access your profile page or need help, send an email to [email protected] with:

Subject: Data deletion request

Message:

Name: [Your name]
Email: [The email you used to sign in]
Request: Complete deletion of my account and data

I confirm that I understand this action is irreversible.

Data that will be deleted (manual request)

  • Profile information (name, email, photo)
  • All comments
  • All reactions (like/dislike)
  • Session history
  • Authentication tokens

Data we cannot delete

  • Anonymous server logs (required by law for 90 days)
  • Automatic backups (deleted in the next purge cycle)

Processing time

  • Immediate: account data and sessions (profile page deletion)
  • Within 30 days: backups (standard retention)

You will receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete.

Revoke Google OAuth access

You can also revoke access from Google:

  1. Visit https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
  2. Find "CodeWithBotina Blog"
  3. Click "Remove access"
